Encouraging immigrant women to gain formal education. I moved to America to attend a university when I was only 19. I left my family, culture, and friends in the Philippines. I was so apprehensive at first, but I knew that I had to pursue higher learning to prepare myself for the future. I knew how important it is to have a formal education in this competitive world. I believe that gaining a formal education will help immigrant women prepare for whatever circumstances they may find themselves in. I also know that by gaining a formal education, it will not only benefit them, but their family and community as well.
